Culture Corner. Schools in England - SCHOOL DAYS

Цель: способствовать развитию навыков ознакомительного чтения, монологической и письменной речи.

Оборудование: фотографии школ Великобритании (экстерьер и интерьер), учеников разного возраста; карточки с заданием.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент

— Good morning, children! (Good morning!)

— How are you? (Fine, thanks!)

— Are you all here?

II. Актуализация знаний

Проверка домашнего задания в рабочей тетради

— Let’s go over Exercise 1 together.

(Ученики по очереди читают предложения и называют ответы.

Keys: 1T, 2F, 3Т, 4F, 5F.)

— Correct the wrong statements.

(2 — The IT lesson is at 2.30 on Tuesday.

4 — The geography lessons are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

5 — John has four music lessons a week.

Учитель может задать дополнительные вопросы по расписанию.)

— How many lessons does John have every day?

— When do the lessons start?

— When do they finish?

— Is John’s timetable different from yours?

(Учитель организует взаимопроверку выполнения упр. 2, 3 (с. 19).)

III. Выполнение проверочной работы

(Ученики выполняют проверочную работу Test Unit 1c (с. 94) из пособия Spotlight Test Booklet 5.)

Today we are going to read and talk about schools in England and English students.

(На доске записаны слова.)

Secondary School — средняя школа

Sixth Form College — колледж для старшеклассников (осуществляет подготовку к сдаче экзамена для получения свидетельства о среднем образовании продвинутого уровня, необходимого для поступления в университет)

— Look at the diagram. What is it about? (It is about the English education system.)

— When do English children start primary school?

— When do they finish it?

(Параллельно несколько учеников выполняют задание на карточках.)

— Read the paragraph about schools in England and circle the correct word.

In England children start going to school when they are (1)seven/five and continue studying until they are 16 or older.

Primary education lasts for (2)six/three years. First, the children attend the infant school from five to seven. They play, draw and learn numbers. When the children are seven, they go (3)junior/secondary school. There they have classes, read and write, do mathematics.

Then the children go to (4)college/secondary school. There they study English, mathematics, science, geography, history, art, music, languages and PE.

(Keys: 1 — five; 2 — six; 3 — secondary; 4 — college.)

— How did you understand it?

(Учащиеся отвечают по-русски, как они поняли задание, и читают образец, затем составляют аналогичные высказывания о других учениках на картинках.

Keys: 2 — His name is Bill. He’s 23 years old. He’s at university. 3 — His name is Tim. He’s 9 years old. He’s at primary school. 4 — Her name is Betty. She’s 17 years old. She’s in sixth form.

Учитель предлагает нескольким ученикам выполнить задание упр. 3 дома (дополнительные инструкции по выполнению задания учитель дает индивидуально).)

— Open your workbooks at page 20. Look at Jane’s homepage. Read the homepage and fill in the headlines.

(Ученики самостоятельно выполняют задание, а затем все вместе проверяют.

— Put the capital letters in the correct places.

(Ученики выполняют задание самостоятельно и на доске.

Keys: 1) Hi, my name’s Jane and I’m twelve years old. I go to Hillside School. I’m in Class 1A.

2) My favourite subjects are English, history, art and music. I don’t like geography because I’m not very good at it!

3) My favourite teacher is Mr Green. He teaches history and he is very nice. My best friend is called Rachel. She is in my class.

Затем учитель задает вопросы по содержанию текста.)

— How old is Jane? (She’s 12years old.)

— What’s the name of Jane’s school? (Hillside School.)

— What class is she in? (She’s in Class 1A.)

— What subjects does Jane like? (She likes English, history, art and music.)

— Does she like geography? Why? (She doesn’t like geography because she’s not very good at it.)

— Who’s Mr Green? (He’s a history teacher.)

— Who’s Jane’s best friend? (Jane’s best friend is her classmate Rachel.)

— Find the personal pronouns in the text and circle them.

(Ученики выполняют задание самостоятельно.)

— Who do the personal pronouns refer to?

Упр. 3 (c. 20).

— Look at the form in Exercise 3. Imagine that you’re Jane. Fill in the form about you and your school.

(Учащиеся проговаривают то, что должно быть написано в анкете. Один из учеников может заполнить анкету на доске.)

— What information about yourself will you write down?

(Ученики называют соответствующие пункты анкеты. Учитель обращает внимание учащихся на то, что российские школы обычно имеют номера, а не названия. Также следует познакомить учеников с таблицей транслитерации на с. WL17 учебника. Дети заполняют анкету самостоятельно, учитель проверяет ответы в ходе выполнения задания.)

V. Инструктаж по выполнению домашнего задания

(Учитель читает и объясняет задание упр. 4 в рабочей тетради (с. 20). Можно предложить нескольким ученикам проговорить вслух то, что они будут писать о себе.

Учитель записывает домашнее задание на доске, а ученики — в дневниках:

VI. Подведение итогов урока

— Can you tell your friends about schools in England?

— Can you write about yourself for your homepage?
