PROGRESS CHECK

Part I. Listening

Задание 1. Послушай четыре рассказа. Установи соответствие между рассказом каждого говорящего и видами путешествий. В задании указан один лишний вид путешествия. Ты услышишь рассказы дважды. Занеси свои ответы в таблицу.

Speaker 1: I like visiting new places, but I don’t like planes and trains. I prefer travelling by bike. I travel with my family. Of course, we can’t go for long distances, but there are so many interesting places around my city which tourists rarely visit. It’s exciting to ride a bike and enjoy the sights. Unfortunately, we can only travel in the summer.

Speaker 2: It’s exciting to travel by plane and by car, but I enjoy travelling by train. Some people think it’s rather slow and uncomfortable, but I don’t think so. I like to look out of the window and watch the places pass by, read books and talk with neighbouring passengers. Besides, you don’t have to depend upon the weather or deal with traffic jams.

Speaker 3: When I grow up, I’m going to become a pilot. I’m going to travel all over the world and visit new countries and cities. I believe that planes are the most comfortable way to travel. You needn’t carry a heavy rucksack, spend several days on a train or repair your bike. And it only takes you a few hours to reach the place you’ve dreamt about.

Speaker 4: I have already taken part in several walking tours. We usually get to the place by plane or by train, and then walk according to our route. During our trips, we swim in the lakes, gather berries and go fishing. My friends say it’s difficult to walk 15 kilometres every day, but I’m sure that walking tours make me strong and energetic.

Задание 2. Посмотри на картинку. Послушай разговор Индиры и Марка. Найди на картинке друзей Индиры. Соедини стрелками их имена и изображения. Ты услышишь разговор дважды.

Mark: Hi, Indira! Nice to see you!

Indira: Hi, Mark!

Mark: Your brother told me that you have been to England.

Indira: Yes, I took part in the work of the International Explorers’ Club. I spent a month there and made lots of new friends from different countries.

Mark: That sounds great. Did you take any photos?

Indira: Of course, I did. Look, there is one of them. I’ve printed this photo for our school album.

Mark: Wow! What a nice photo! A beautiful lake in the forest, tents... Where are you?

Indira: We went hiking for a weekend. The weather was fine and warm. We enjoyed the trip. Look at my new friends.

Mark: I see. Who’s that good-looking girl with wavy dark hair?

Indira: Oh, she is my best friend. Her name’s Linda. She’s from New Zealand. She wants to be a painter. She’s drawing pictures.

Mark: And who’s that tall boy with short straight fair hair?

Indira: Straight fair hair? Oh, he’s Mike. He’s from

Finland. He’s all smiles. Look, he’s watching the ants!

Mark: And that short slim girl with long red hair? What is she doing?

Indira: Let me see. A girl with long red hair? Oh, that is Anna. She’s from Ireland. She and Nikita from Russia are flying a kite.

Mark: That boy with wavy dark hair is from Spain or Italy, isn’t he?

Indira: Yes, he’s from Spain. He’s Sancho and he’s crazy about football. He wears glasses, but they don’t prevent him from playing football everywhere.

Mark: Indira, and what about...

Indira: I’m sorry, Mark, but I’m afraid, I have to go. Come to my place this evening and I’ll show you all the photos and tell you about my new friends.

Mark: OK. See you this evening, then.
